Strongylodon macrobotry
(Jade Vine)
2021
Coloured pencils, paper
51x38 cm
Jade vine is native to the tropical forests of the Philippines. It is a leguminous vine. The flowers are fantastic, blooming like sparkling smurfs flying in a spiral. It also reveals a little green and purple. It is rare. There are 28 varieties of species. The plant that Annie witnessed this time is considered the bluest variety. Even the stalks of the inflorescences are blue-purple, which is very lucky.
The pollinator are majorly bats. When a bat hangs upside down to absorb nectar, it will squeeze out the pollen covered in the end of the flower and stick it on the bat. Wherever the bat flies, the pollen will spread.
Tillandsia pretiosa
2021
Acrylic, paper
76x51 cm
It belongs to the bromeliad family and is unique to Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical humid lowland forests and mountain forests.
It grows in the cloud forest with many Anthurium and high-altitude Philodendron. It is not easy to see her beauty. This mysterious bromeliaceae has a huge inflorescence. The flowering period lasts as long as one year. It always maintains a delicate pink color. The bract distribution is also significantly different from other species. Probably the top few of the most ornamental bromeliaceae in history. This is the reason why Tillandsia pretiosa is listed as the star and national treasure of Ecuador. It really deserves the praise!
Cochleanthes amazonica (Snail orchids)
Seleniereus witti (Amazon Moon Flower)
Vriesea splendens (Flaming Sword)
2021

This is Annie’s first attempt to paint a variety of plants in the same painting, depicting the ecological corners of the rainforest. Snail orchids have soft leaves and fan-like growth habits, which are found in most parts of South America, especially in the Amazon rainforest. Each inflorescence produces a white flower with dark purple stripes on the lips.
Moonflower is a plant of the cactus family. It was first described in 1900. It grows epiphytically on the trunks of seasonal flood forests in the Amazon River basin. The area is regularly flooded for several weeks every year. During this period, the seeds are spread through water, which is unique in the cactus family.
Flaming Sword is a flowering species in the bromeliaceae family. The leaves have smooth edges, dark and light green, and the flowers are bright red spikes. It has ever won the Merit awarded by Royal Horticultural Society.
Cattleya eldorado
2019
Acrylic, paper
51x38 cm
This orchid is distributed in typical vegetation areas of the Amazon rainforest region and highly respected for its lush and rare sense. Because the area is under strong pressure from man-made destruction, the research team began to conduct in-depth research on her pollination methods.
Her white variety is full of aura. This is the motivation for Annie to paint her. In the process of painting, her mind is as static as water. There was once a collector commented that "The moist water still seems to stay on the petals!"
This painting was also selected for the annual exhibition of the Russian Society of Botanical Artist in Moscow in 2019, the exhibition of Plantae 2020, the annual exhibition of SBA. UK in 2020,
